Being the largest fruit, vegetable and flower market in the UK, New Covent Garden Market is home to over 200 businesses, employing over 2,500 people and providing 40% of fresh fruit & vegetables eaten outside of the home in London.
They wanted a new online solution which drew upon all these figures by including social networking capabilities which allowed employers, members and traders the ability to communicate and advertise their services. The main objective of the social networking solution was to grow and enhance the existing, thriving market community.
Around the objectives emerged ideas for some robust social networking features which would heighten and expose the markets community. A very visually appealing layout was created along with profiles, feeds and events to help draw visitors into the site and show its activeness.
Developed over a number of months and working closely with the New Covent Garden team we managed to create a dynamic and innovative website that acted as a hub of communication for all New Covent Garden traders.
The site includes social networking functionality which has heightened communication between traders, members and employers and has already attracted over 200 users.
