To use Plan Schools Blog pupils register and ask their overseas counterparts questions about life in Malawi, Sierra Leone or the UK. School representatives then respond by uploading photos, videos and blog posts. This simple but powerful and safe environment has created a lively cross continent community in a few short months.
Opening up comments to registered users has generated lively discussion among peers - even though they are separated by thousands of miles! Meanwhile, administration time is kept to a minimum with a simple workflow for moderation and safety; and latest content (blogs and comments) is automatically displayed.
Users can select from specially created avatars to personalise their profile and upload images, blogs and video.
It is even possible to keep track of your favourite schools and authors using the autogenerated RSS feed.
This effective blog project has been extremely successful in terms of ROI and has also featured on the Global Gateway's home page!
Special thanks to: Alex from Plan Uk/Plan International, the British Council and the Global Gateway for their work and contribution to the Plan Schools Blog project.
